Production Blog: The Review

Hi Blog!

Today I'm going to talk to you about our peer review experience. We had Sarah's sister watch our final film for this portion. We did this because we thought it would be a good idea to have someone with a fresh mind to view the video. This allowed us to have an unbiased and raw opinion for our feedback. When Sarah's sister watched the final film she said it was good but she did have some critiques. She thought that the setting was not displayed enough in our film. This was a good critique as it opened our eyes to the fact that we did need to establish the setting in our film to block any confusion from the audience. To solve this we started brainstorming different ways we could set up a location. The main way we could do this was through an establishing shot. This could be done at the gas station we filmed previously. This would be a good establishing shot as it is a change in a location and establishing where the characters are prevents any confusion. The second shot to improve the setting would be a pan shot of the character's neighborhood. This allows for the audience to know where the characters begin their journey. This would allow for a better development of how the film progresses and how it transitions. Sarah's sister also thought the music we had previously picked out didn't match the film. She suggested we should pick a different song with a more cheerful yet eerie twist to it. We were a little frustrated because we were cutting it close to the deadline and we didn't know if we would find another royalty-free piece of music that suited the film. The whole group knew it would be difficult to make all of these changes and find time for refilming in such a short amount of time. So, we got to work right away! That's all for the peer review! See you later!
