Production Blog: Exporting the clips

Sasha and I are now done recording our all of the clips for our music video. Now we need to work on the editing process of the music video. To begin this first we needed to export the song we used into CapCut. I talked to Sasha asking what part of the song should be used. After deciding that the beginning of the song works fine I screen recorded the song off of Spotify. I exported the clip of the song into CapCut and began looking through the clips we recorded on my phone. Similar to what I did for the recording part of this process, I made a list of all of the editing we could potentially use in our music video. This list consisted of cross cutting, fade in/ fade out, insert, and split screen. I started the editing by inputting the video clips into the CapCut software. Then I put the videos in order based on how much the story of the clip matched with the lyrics. Not only was it based on lyrics, but it was based on the overall order of the clips. Once I put the clips in I noticed the time was longer than around one minute and fifteen seconds. Initially I had thought I would be able to fix this issue by just making the longer clips shorter. However I realized that just making the clips shorter could take away from parts of the story. I then knew I needed to get rid of one unnecessary clip and then I could just shorten a little bit of the clips. This would allow the music video to get straight to the point of telling the story without anything distracting from it within the time limit. Now that the video clips were in order and shortened I proceeded with adding the effects. I added in the fade in effect during  the beginning clip, then I added the fade in at the end as well. I mainly used cut away effects because I  didn't want it to the amount of editing to be overwhelming. Most of the effects could have been done just with the camera, like the jump cuts. That's all I could get completed within the time I had. I'll discuss what I finished during the last blog.
