My Group for the Music Video

Today I'm excited to talk to you about my upcoming music video project! For this project I chose to work with somebody else. I wanted to have a partner because it seemed like a good opportunity to share ideas and collaborate to make a better music video. My teammate for this project is my friend Sasha who has been my friend since the beginning of the AICE Media Studies course. I wanted to work with her for this project because she is a creative person which could help bring ideas about what our music video will include. She is also a kind person who I knew would listen to any ideas I had and I knew I would love to listen to her ideas and feedback as well. I knew that we could both use our skills to work on aspects of the video that we are the best at and help each other when one of us faces a difficulty. Sasha and I both have similar music tastes. This proved useful as it would allow us to pick the song choice without disagreement. However, this interest in similar music tastes has also proven to be harmful to the process. In liking similar songs, Sasha and I found that choosing between two songs was very difficult. Picking which song to use out of three very good candidates proved to be a lot harder than imagined. Sasha and I both agreed that we wanted an upbeat song to use for the music video. The reasoning behind this is that we wanted to have a positive effect on the viewers of our video. The song needed to have clear and clean lyrics that the audience could understand. Knowing that we needed to tell a story through out music video, the song had to produce a certain mood from the viewers. When picking a song to use, we created a dual Spotify playlist and added potential songs we each found fitting to use. Then, after talking about which ones shouldn't be used, Sasha and I were left with three potential songs as mentioned earlier. This dilemma was solved by listening to the songs again together and taking note of potential ideas for a music video. The song with the most notes from both of us was picked.
